At age 35 Heather retired from her 11-year career as a pharmacist and transitioned to financial coaching full-time.

Heather’s greatest desire for each of her clients is to watch them completely transform their financial situation from “there’s never enough” to “we are blessed with more than enough to give, save, and spend”

Ultimately, she wants you to stress less about money, go after your God-given dreams without money being a hindrance, and work in unity with your husband in order to do so!

Heather resides in Texas with her husband and three rambunctious young boys, including a set of fraternal twins.

Show Notes

In today’s episode, Heather shared her top tips for financial success with us – but added a small “just for now” twist that is opposite of what she would coach you to do under “normal” circumstances.

  • As a Christian financial coach, Heather would normally coach you to focus on paying down and even eliminating your debt.
  • But today, with our current circumstances, Heather tells us to focus on saving for a short time and just pay those minimums on your current debt.
  • Build your savings now so you are prepared for emergencies in the future.
  • Tip #1 – Know where your hope and provision (income) come from.
  • Philippians 4:19 “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
  • Some people are looking at a career change right now. Now is definitely the time to be in prayer about that and seek the Lord’s guidance.
  • Tip #2 – Always have a plan.
  • Don’t just let money happen. Plan what you will do with the money.
  • Some people call this a budget, others a spending plan, Heather calls it a cash flow plan. Whatever you call it, take control and tell your money where to go!
  • Proverbs 27:23 “Know the state of your flocks (finances), and put your heart into caring for your herds (budget), for riches don’t last forever, and the crown might not be passed to the next generation.”
  • Proactively plan where your money is going to go.
  • Budgets give us control and freedom. It is not restrictive or punitive.
  • Saving should be in your budget. Prioritize this!
  • Tip #3 – Be content where you are.
  • Philippians 4:11-12 & 13 “

Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”

  • And remember Psalm 46:5 “God is with her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.”
